In 1994, I had an energetic experience that shook my world, awakening a part of me that I had tried to forget mostly because I didn’t really understand it. I had impressions – a knowing about people, events and circumstances, my entire life. Afraid of how I knew things but with no one to guide me, I pushed it down.
In the following year, after a lot of inner work, (which I still continue today,) I realized that Life Force Energy and Energetic Awareness was part of my sensory package. An infinite source of information and support, my soul energy was trying get my attention, to co-create with me in my everyday life in a conscious way. But often, particularly prior to this event, I was either too busy, or dismissed my inner voice due to fear, stubbornness, and a reluctance to take what I was getting seriously. Basically, I was unconscious, detached from myself, not intentionally, but none the less, detached.
Like most of us, I needed a little help to begin a path that was more “spiritual”, more “aware”, more “conscious”. Like many people, I began a new path in my life after a death in my family that challenged my core beliefs and changed my perception on many, many levels. Looking to support myself, a friend told me about an Open House where a spiritual teacher was going to introduce people to something called Reiki, and she asked me if I’d like to join her. To say it made an impression is an understatement. I signed up for a class with the intention that it would help me understand what I had experienced and give me tools to support myself in a way that I had not consciously done before. Within three years I completed three Masters Training Programs, synchronically found my mentor and chose this as my profession. Not everyone is meant to be a Reiki Teacher, but this was my calling.
Over thirty years in, I have gradually made my way back to myself, with a lot of hard work and support from others to cultivate a deeper relationship with my soul. I have also seen the benefits of that connection in my clients and students over the years and am convinced it is essential to our human experience and key to our thriving as a species.
Taking a Reiki class was my formal introduction to the world of the unseen that I had always sensed. Learning Reiki, an Attunement, and the practical benefits seen within myself and throughout my life, I learned to value this awareness and am forever grateful.
The results of taking that first class after an extremely challenging life event changed my perception. It heightened my awareness and brought new relationships, teachers, trainers and mentors that have been instrumental in helping me engage with whatever life brings my way. I’ve become more energetically aware and manage myself and my energy differently. After years of peeling away the proverbial onion, I have realized the importance of this awareness. Now more in touch with my true nature and inner wisdom, I include it in my daily routine and offer it in my Reiki teaching curriculum as a foundational component.
If you take anything away from this blog post, I’d like to share a few things of what I have come to know…
Your soul energy is patient, an un-wavering energy that has one goal, for you to remember who you are and what you are made of: love. It will always support you and never abandon you in that quest, no matter what. Striving to build a strong relationship with you, encouraging you to think of yourself differently, in a kinder, more loving way to create a stream of Life Force Energy that flows freely – healthier, unencumbered, and more balanced.
We sense energy everyday within us as a feeling, through an intuition or a gut sense, but also as incoming energetic messages felt as a vibe from a person, a relationship or from an environment. It’s just a matter of learning how you perceive, then learning to trust what you know.
Energies from people and within environments can and do have an effect on you, either rejuvenating or draining – so it’s important to pay attention.
Everything that has life has an Energy component. Animals, trees, and plants also have Life Force Energy and all are connected to the Universal Energy that surrounds and supports all living things. We must be respectful of that knowledge and respond accordingly.
Energetic Awareness gives both practical and esoteric strategies for you to consider.
Your relationship with your Life Force Energy and having an Energetic Awareness of the forces that guide you are essential for health, wellness, and quality in life, and Reiki is a wonderful way to begin to foster that journey with eyes wide open.
