Ru Paul, House of Hidden Meanings

This month I had the wonderful opportunity to meet RuPaul while he was speaking and promoting his memoir, The House of Hidden Meanings in Toronto. I was excited and hopeful that what I got from him energetically from many years of witnessing his work from afar, would be an actuality in person, and I wasn’t disappointed.

One of the most influential people of this time, RuPaul promotes self-empowerment through love, kindness, and doing the inner work to discover and begin to embody who you are and, what you are meant to do in this life. He does this through his speaking tours, books, music, shows, and mentoring in the drag culture where he is fondly referred to as Mama Ru. An example of what you can become, with hard work and a commitment to loving yourself first, he operates from a grounded perspective, in his body and present in the current moment. RuPaul emits joy, and engages with a genuine interest, with eye contact, through a steadfast energy within himself that he consciously works to maintain.

Having the opportunity to feel the energy that RuPaul holds in person, affirmed what I knew all along, RuPaul is a person who strives for love, kindness, and honesty within himself, values it in the relationships he cultivates, strives to walk the talk and inspire others to do the same.

His success in my humble opinion, is that it is a result of his commitment to himself through inner work and the awareness and actions taken as a result. Equally as important, are the people he surrounds himself with who are of a similar nature.

I understand first-hand how challenging inner work can be and coming into your own is always a work in progress. It requires an honest look at yourself and is a lonely endeavor at times, exhausting, infuriating, and deeply emotional. However, with time it is healing and empowering, ultimately clearing a path for you to take the brave steps necessary for your confidence to grow and your greatness to emerge, one that is integrated, conscious, and leads with love. This is because your energy has shifted into a state that is more in alignment with your true nature. Basically, body, mind, and spirit are working together as one.

I encourage you to read this book, you will not be disappointed and if you have the opportunity, go and listen to him speak. You may be inspired to take a deep dive within and discover the parts of yourself that could use a little more love and compassion. Ultimately though, you may find some inner confidence that you forgot you had and begin to forge your own unique path, in tune with your true nature and purpose, that will not only fuel you but inspire others to do the same.
